This special one-day conference will facilitate community-based organisations to explore and discuss the upcoming centenary of Partition.
It will illuminate the period 1920-22 in a practical day of learning.
Speakers include:
- Professor Alan Sharp
- Dr Eamon Phoenix
- Liz Gillis.
The conference will also host community based groups, relevant agencies and stakeholders who will be displaying their work and resources in a market place.
Group Sessions And Panel Discussion
Smaller group sessions will take place in the late morning, as well as a panel discussion in the afternoon.
Three smaller group sessions will discuss activities that could be delivered in local communities to help explore the centenary of events during the period. This will provide ideas for participants to take away with them.
Commemoration
The conference will also remind participants of the principles of commemoration:
- Start from the historical facts.
- Recognise the implications and consequences of what happened.
- Understand that different perceptions and interpretations exist.
- Show how events and activities can deepen understanding of the period.
