Peacebuilding, Public Order & Conflict Management 2019 Summer School
University of Massachusetts, Boston with The University of Ulster and Diversity Challenges, Charlemont Arms Hotel, Armagh

The third Peace Building Summer School will run in Armagh in July 2019. Participants will be based in Armagh and during the course of ten days will examine:
- Tough Issues in the conflict how they have been resolved or not resolved
- Parades from Loyal Order, marching band and residents’ perspectives, accommodations and current position in Armagh
- Impact of the conflict Armagh City and south Armagh with guided tours
- Visit to Derry/Londonderry and various events and Parades and how they have been managed in the City
- Life in Northern Ireland from a wide variety of perspectives including the LBGTQi community, minority ethnic communities, nationalist and unionist communities etc.
- Peace Walls and segregation in Belfast and participate in a joint session with students at Queen’s University
Local participants will sit alongside participants travelling from the US but drawn from a wide range of countries and will have the opportunity to learn and interact with each other, encountering a range of local and international perspectives.
UMASS students earn credits which can contribute to a degree. Local participants can undertake accredited learning through Open College Network course on Peace Building specifically designed for the programme.

(Unfortunately, late applications cannot not be considered) Places are limited, so this is a competitive process. Applicants judged by the organisers to have the potential to contribute most to peace-building outcomes will be selected.These full bursaries are sponsored by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Reconciliation Fund.
