Given the current impasse at Stormont and the issues that have led to that impasse around equality legislation and human rights, it is timely in the light of the 50th anniversary of the first Civil Rights March that we explore what distance we have travelled over that time in addressing intolerance, inequality and injustice.
The event entails a series of presentations and deliberative dialogues on progress towards becoming a peaceful united community. We will consider what has been achieved, the remaining challenges including power sharing collapse and Brexit, and what society needs to do to meet these challenges.
A number of keynote speakers will be invited to give a brief input and then through a series of small group deliberative dialogues participants will explore key issues raised and be encouraged to reach agreement on steps towards their resolution.
This will be a joint event involving Community Dialogue, TIDES Training and 174 Trust. The event will take place as part of Good Relations Week on Tuesday 18th September from 10am to 1pm.
