The Playhouse welcomed the Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald MLA and representatives from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to meet with resident groups.
The Community Relations Council supports The Playhouse through its Core Funding Scheme.
The guests met with Playhouse resident groups, such as Sole Purpose, Kippie, Lilliput Theatre Company, PIPS and Northern Lights. They also got a first-hand look at the incredible talent and passion within the city. The young people from (Thornhill, Oakgrove, St Celica’s, St Mary’s and Lumen Christi Colleges) the in-house BRIDGE project dazzled everyone with a stunning performance, followed by a hilarious and heartfelt showcase by Mark McLaughlin and Niamh Morrison – graduates from The Playhouse's Musical Theatre Company – who performed a short, self-written script and an original song by Mark.
The Minister and Arts Council Representatives also experienced a powerful extract in the Playhouse’s Black Box Theatre from In at Midnight and Away by Morning: The Uninvited Guest, their Blueprint Project installation, which explores the impact of severe flooding on the Eglinton and Newtownstewart communities.
The Playhouse wish to extend a massive thank you to the Arts Council NI, Economy Minister and all the local community representatives for their support and belief in the power of the arts.
