The Suitcase

In response to popular demand, the revival of the play which was premiered at the Belfast
synagogue during the 2015 Belfast International Arts Festival and was voted the winner of
the Belfast TelegraphAudience Award.

In 1930s Vienna, a young woman dreams of becoming a dancer. In present day Belfast,
an elderly manrevisits a painful past, while a bereaved mother and daughter unearth a
little nugget of history, long hidden in their family home. With a specially composed,
atmospheric soundscape, The Suitcase is alove story, a hymn to the restorative power of
art and a life-affirming human drama.

This revival coincides with Holocaust Memorial Day 2019 commemorations. Each
performance will be followed by a facilitated audience discussion focusing on issues
raised by the play.
