HURT are providing a free Youth Leadership training programme for young people in the Derry Strabane and Donegal area aged 18 to 25. The programme is focused on young people who are already involved in youth /community /voluntary work and will empower them in their leadership skills.
Two accredited programmes will be provided over an 8 month period
Programme 1 - Award in Community Relations, Equality and Diversity In Youth Work Practice:
This is a 25 week programme by 3 hours per week (75 hours approx) which includes sessions on: The principles of Equality Diversity and Interdependence in Youth Work
- Community Relations within a Youth Work Settings
- Diversity Work with Young People
- Skills and Knowledge for Community Relations Equality and Diversity Work
- Understanding Prejudice and Discrimination
- Understanding and Managing Community Conflict
- Understanding Equality and Human Rights Legislation
- Understanding Discrimination within Youth Work Practice
- Leadership Skills for Community Relations Equality and Diversity in Youth Work Practice
- Mediation Skills for Community Relations Equality and Diversity in Youth Work Practice
- Understanding Conflict
Programme 2 -
Level 3 Award in Education and Training
This is a 6 week by 4 hour programme class contact.
Participants will receive training in;
- Understanding roles responsibilities and relationships in training.
- Understanding and using inclusive learning approaches in training and facilitation.
- Facilitating learning and development for individuals and groups.
- Understanding assessment in education and learning.
- For facilitators or tutors delivering training for others.
- Knowledge of the relationship between theory/principles and practice in the context of your existing or future role
- Consideration of how professional values impact on working in your area
- Evidence of a reflective approach
Programme participants must agree to undertake both programmes and a 90% attendance record is required to achieve accreditation and award of certificate.
On completion participants will be awarded a level 3 Award in Education and Training and an award in Community Relations Equality and Diversity In Youth Work Practice:
The qualifications will enhance the capacity of the participants to be empowered within a youth leadership context.
