The Nerve Centre has launched an animated film charting the events leading up to and around the Partition of Ireland, including the War of Independence and the Irish Civil War.
Partition: a Dividing Ireland in a Dividing Europe
The animation, entitled "Partition – a Creative Centenaries Film," was showcased during a special one-day regional conference by the Community Relations Council (CRC) and the National Lottery Heritage Fund NI. The conference, entitled “Partition: a Dividing Ireland in a Dividing Europe,” was centred on Ireland during the years 1920-22 and took place in Cookstown on 21 November 2019.
Guests were treated to a sneak peek of the animation alongside keynote talks from Professor Alan Sharp, Dr Eamon Phoneix, and historian Liz Gillis, as well as a special show reel of archival footage from NI Screen.
The conference was part of CRC’s Decades of Centenaries series of events.
Partition Animation
Using a unique method of 2.5D projection, archive imagery has been brought to life to tell a story of the seismic events at the turn of the century.
The animation is an output of the Making the Future project, supported by the European Union's PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
