Fermanagh and Omagh District Council currently has two programmes for summer 2020 which celebrate the diverse nature of the area.
From Around the World
The “From Around the World” summer dance programme provides the opportunity to try and learn a wide variety of dances from different countries, such as Bulgarian, Chinese, Indian, Irish, Japanese, Latvian, Malaysian, Polish and Scottish, through video dance lessons recorded by experienced dance tutors.
These are presented in a user-friendly manner and perfect for any beginner.
They can be viewed on the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s YouTube channel.
Celebrating Our Cultures
The “Celebrating Our Cultures” summer arts programme offers participants a variety of unique workshops.
These are live on-line interactive workshops led by experienced facilitators and delivered over Webex. The participants can join any of the workshops, Good Relations with TIDES, Irish Traveller Wagon-making, Japanese Ikebana (Flower Arranging), African Drumming, and learn something new.
New and innovative ways of delivering programmes
Councillor Chris Smyth, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, said “With the restrictions placed on events as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to devise new and innovative ways of delivering programmes. These two programmes, which are online based, are a great way of finding out about new dances and skills while at the same time celebrating the cultures of all the residents of the district.”
