Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have documented the community response during the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. Community groups, sporting organisations and individuals across the district have submitted stories and photographs of activities undertaken that made a significant difference to their communities.
The stories have now been collated in the form of a publication entitled Share Your Story, which is available to download.
Speaking about the publication, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Diana Armstrong, said:
“Throughout the Covid-19 health pandemic, there have been many examples of community groups, sporting organisation and individuals responding to the exceptional circumstances such as checking on elderly neighbours, taking part in sponsored events to raise money for the NHS and other charities, and delivering food parcels and medication to those who are shielding to name but a few.
"The community and voluntary sectors once again reacted magnificently in the face of adversity, and provided a great deal of support to those most in need, whilst also facing their own challenges around operating within restrictions, loss of income, increasing demands on services and cash flow difficulties. I am delighted that their stories have been committed to this publication as a permanent reminder of the inherent goodness of people across our district who put the needs of others first.”
This project was supported by the Executive Office’s Good Relations programme.
