Unquestioning faith, cultural identity and self-discovery- Marie Jones’ much loved monodrama is back.
A quietly bigoted protestant man, dealing with his cultural identity crisis in 1990s Northern Ireland…
Marie Jones’ much loved one man show ‘A Night in November’ will come to The Playhouse this autumn.
The play focuses on the personal struggles of protestant man Kenneth McCallister as he questions his previous sectarian views after witnessing extreme abuse at the famous football game between the north and south of Ireland in 1994.
In a brand new realisation of the piece directed by Kieran Griffiths, The Playhouse’s new production will star local actor Gerry Doherty in the role of Kenneth.
This monodrama was written during the darker days of Northern Ireland's Troubles, and this context for Kenneth’s journey of self-discovery leads every single audience member to query everything we know sectarianism, gender and class.
‘A Night in November’ will be performed in The Playhouse from Tuesday 6 to Sunday 11 November (Tue- Sat 8pm, Sun 3pm). Tickets are £10/ £12 (opening night offer- All tickets £5) and are available from the Playhouse box office on (028)71268027 or www.derryplayhouse.co.uk.
