Their vision is to promote a healthy, shared & empowered society across Belfast and Northern Ireland. They are currently engaging with of 16-19 year old’s from diverse areas across Belfast. Their Community and School SheerSKILL Programme funded by the Northern Ireland Executive’s T:BUC (Together: Building a United Community) began at the start of October with sessions taking place every Wednesday afternoon and evening. 55 young leaders are involved across the two programmes this year the programme engages with young people from Belfast Boy’s Model, Hazelwood Integrated College, Trinity College, Rathmore Grammar, St Louises College, Lower Ormeau Residents Action Group & Willowfield Parish Community Associations!
They’ve fitted a lot in to their sessions over the last number of weeks. Already, the enthusiastic young leaders have had the opportunity to climb and cave at the Belfast Activity Centre, attain Heart Start First Aid and Cricket fundamentals training with Cricket Ireland as well as a wide range of fun and inclusive participation games underpinned by the Sports Leaders Qualification and good relations workshops that can all be added to their portfolios & c.v’s!
The aim of the programme is to provide an inclusive environment where future young leaders from all areas of the community, regardless of the religious, racial or educational background can come together to enhance their leadership and coaching qualifications with the hope that they make new friends and then have the confidence to be able to deliver similar sessions within their own communities!
Wednesday’s just can’t come quick enough!
