The 2019 Dr Brian Trainor Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Cormac Ó Gráda, professor emeritus, University College Dublin.

It’s entitled, “Irish Emigration: New Sources, New Approaches, New Results.” And is organised by the Ulster Historical Foundation.

This lecture is free.

 

Lecture Details

Brian Trainor was always interested in the history of Irish emigration, and particularly in those who left Ulster before the Great Famine.

The lecture will review recent and ongoing work on emigration from the island as a whole, highlighting the role of new material and new techniques, and the new perspectives they offer.

 

About Speaker

Cormac Ó Gráda is professor emeritus, University College Dublin. He was awarded the Royal Irish Academy’s Gold Medal for the Humanities in 2010 and an honorary doctorate by Trinity College Dublin in 2019.
